Home Studio – Low Key Lighting

I was asked to do some promotional shots for a DJ, so i set my studio up following the instructions from Colin’s class. I used a white backdrop first with 2 300w strobe lights lighting diagonally in front and behind. I ended up only using the front light because he wanted quite a dark image with only parts of his face illuminated.

When we swapped to the black backdrop, i used both lights, i moved the rear light round a little just so one side of his face wasn’t in total darkness.

He did many poses but found that the ones where he was using his hands either with his hood or to his face worked the best and added character to the shot.
